BELARUS INTENDS TO RANK AMONG THE FIRST 25 COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD BANK RATING SYSTEM FOR BUSINESS TERMS
Belarus intends to rank among the first 25 countries in the World Bank rating system for business terms. That is why all the positions of the current Law which influence the business environment will be revised. It was decided that changes should affect all the areas of economical activity. At the recent meeting with the President the head of National Bank Piotr Prokopovitch announced that "all the obsolete acts and laws which interfere with our economy must be repealed". It is important that for the moment Belarus has ranked 110th of 178 by the rating system mentioned above (it went up by 19 points comparing to the previous year mainly due to the improvements in the field of company registration).
At the same time if the government really wishes to improve the rating it is necessary to carry out reforms not only in the area of registration and licensing, but also hiring and dismissal, property registration, receipt of credits, protection of investor's rights, tax payment, international trade, execution of contracts. Consultations with experts of the World Bank and other international organizations have already started.
